コンゴ民主共和国

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the second largest country in Africa by land area and shares a border with 10 other countries. The Congo has been politically unstable, with frequent conflict and tribal violence resulting in many millions of deaths. Low levels of economic development and poor health care also mean the Congo has a high infant mortality rate with almost 12% of children dying before the age of 5.

Despite the political violence in the areas where DMI works, six churches have been planted that minister to 350 people each week. Evangelists are continuing to take God’s Word to new deaf communities each week.

As with many developing countries, access to education for the deaf is a major issue. DMI has established a primary school that currently has 44 students across 6 classes. Demand for places at the school is much higher than we are able to cater for.
